Most of Robert Lawrence Kuhn’s emails in the Jeffrey Epstein files (the ~694 mentions across the released documents, mostly from 2009–2019) revolve around professional and funding-related discussions tied to Kuhn’s work on the PBS series Closer to Truth.

On a personal note, I have to wonder why Robert Kuhn would continue associating with Jeffrey Epstein after his 2008 conviction for procuring minors for prostitution. With so many legitimate foundations and funding sources available to support intellectual and media projects, it’s hard not to conclude that money was the primary motivator.

Robert Lawrence Kuhn, known as a scientist, author, and host of
Closer to Truth, was previously a key associate of the Worldwide Church of God (WCG) in the 1970s. As a PhD researcher, he published in the church’s The Plain Truth magazine and served as an advisor to leader Garner Ted Armstrong before severing ties in 1978.
Kuhn gained prominence within the WCG through his intellectual contributions. He published Why the Vast Difference between Animal Brain and Human Mind? in The Plain Truth magazine, published by Ambassador College.
During a 1977 visit to WCG headquarters, Kuhn outlined theological shifts, including the concept of the “spirit in man,” which attempted to bridge WCG’s traditional, somewhat mechanistic views with more conventional spiritual ideas.
After leaving, Kuhn built a career as a public intellectual, investment banker, and creator of the public television series Closer to Truth.
In 2009, the Worldwide Church of God rebranded as Grace Communion International.
Given Kuhn’s penchant for pedantry, philosophy, progressiveness and pursuit of publicity and money, it’s no stretch to see why he would associate himself with Epstein. Epstein funded much of Kuhn’s endeavors and had a close relationship:
Recent releases of documents from the Epstein estate revealed email exchanges between Kuhn and Epstein. In one instance, Kuhn wrote to Epstein, “Just got to New York — love to meet, brainstorm,” and in another, remarked that a “photo with MBS [Mohammed bin Salman] has become very valuable”.
Note that Robert Kuhn is 81 years old.

As for the Vast Difference between Animal Brain and Human Mind, we always assumed that it was because of the cerebral cortex:
