A few weeks ago, I took my car to the mechanic because of a noise in its front end. It turned out there was nothing seriously wrong with it. But car problems are not what I want to talk about. Rather, it’s about one of many false impressions that people have about agnostics or atheists in general.
WHY SHOULD YOU KNOW THIS?
In February, 2004, the editor at the Painful Truth website contacted me. He asked if I would write a piece concerning what I would say to the next-generation Worldwide Church of God (WCG) members and those who have split off from this āmotherā church. He wanted me to express what would be most important for me to try and get those people to understand. He had asked a few others to do the same thing.

The subject of atheism and its meaning have been covered eloquently and clearly by many *freethinkers. My purpose, therefore, is not to reiterate what atheism is or what the word means. At this juncture, I simply want you to know why atheism as a life philosophy increasingly appeals to more and more people who are dissatisfied with religion in general. My goal is to spotlight religionās negative impact, usually through guilt, in day-to-day lives of ordinary people. My aim is to tell you how atheism enhances oneās life ā more specifically, my life.
