Don’t You Want to Be Evil?

From Disney’s Descendants, a musical which poses a dilemma for teens of evil people: Do I have a choice to be good or evil?

It’s a question the Armstrongist leaders have answered for themselves and now they want to perpetuate it for generations to come. It’s a legacy.

Just to be sure, here are the lyrics with the properties of evil highlighted in red:

I was once like you, my child, slightly insecure.
Argued with my mother, too.
Thought I was mature.
But I put my heart aside, and I used my head.
Now I think it’s time you learned what dear old momma said…

Don’t you wanna be evil like me?
Don’t you wanna be mean?
Don’t you wanna make mischief your daily routine?

Well, you can spend your life attending to the poor,
but when you’re evil, doing less is doing more.

Don’t you wanna be ruthless and rotten and mad?
Don’t you wanna be very, very good at being bad?

I have tried my whole life long to do the worst I can.
Clawed my way to victory,
built my master plan.
Now the time has come, my dear,
for you to take your place.
Promise me you’ll try to be an absolute disgrace.

Don’t you wanna be evil like me?
Don’t you wanna be cruel?
Don’t you wanna be nasty and brutal and cool?

And when you grab that wand, that’s when your reign begins.
Who wants an evil queen without a sack of sins?

Don’t you wanna be heartless and hardened as stone?
Don’t you wanna be finger lickin’ evil to the bone?

This is not for us to ponder, this was preordained.
You and I shall rule together, freedom soon regained.
Mistress of the universe, powerful and strong.
Daughter, hear me.
Help me, join me, won’t you sing along?

Now we’re gonna be evil!
It’s true, never gonna think twice.
And we’re gonna be spiteful!
Yeah, spiteful… that’s nice!

In just an hour or two, our future’s safe and sure.
This mother-daughter act is going out on tour.

If you wanna be evil and awful and free…
Then you should thank your lucky star that you were born the girl you are…
The daughter of an eviliscious queen like me!

Another great song from Descendants is Rotten to the Core.

Now you might notice that the evil as described has left out sex, fornication and adultery. Instead, being ruthless, rotten, spiteful, hard and heartless, full of mischief is at the core. That’s interesting because people like Roderick Meredith and David Pack claim they’ve not committed a major sin since baptism. Since they are false prophets, you just have to wonder what their definition of ‘major sin’ really is. One suspects it means they haven’t committed adultery or had a gay relationship, but that isn’t what the baddies really mean by evil — it’s how you treat others as well as how you think of them. It also includes being totally unconcerned for others — only for yourself.

The big difference between the evil villains of the Disney world and the Armstrongists like Roderick Meredith, David Pack, Gerald Flurry and Ronald Weinland is that the Disney villains are gratuitously cheerful in their evil and are perfectly self-satisfied with being open and accepting what they really are. They have absolutely no compunctions about pretense.

So, except for the hidden guilt, we really do have an answer for the Armstrongist cult leaders for the question:

Don’t You Want to Be Evil?

They just don’t want to be caught at it.

  1. Illustrates there cannot be good without evil, absolute evil is good, pure good, is evil. You cannot know “holiness” like the Armstrong’s without having been evil.

    1. Unlikely.

This isn’t really intended to be a humorous posting.

During the WCG days, a woman in the church was scheduled to go to court to gain custody of her children. The church was paying Pearson P.C. attorneys to represent her. Prior to this time, she was staying in an apartment owned by a millionaire in the church and there was an accident which resulted in a fire which did damage to the apartment. The minister (Dennis Luker) took umbrage because he wanted the favor of the millionaire and set about to create havoc for the woman at every turn. The night before the court hearing, Dennis Luker called Victor Kubic and got the WCG support pulled right out from under the poor woman. So the next day, she had no lawyers to represent her and she lost her children.

      [Now we’re gonna be evil!

      Yeah, spiteful… that’s nice!]

A couple of decades Dennis Luker backs a stalker in United who is stalking the poor woman, even though she was married. The stalker was known to write in the dust on the trunk of their car, “You are mine, you belong to me” and other such things. She was frightened when he parked his car in the lot outside their apartment and then drove off when she looked out the front door and saw him.

Fortunately, this ended when she got a restraining order against the stalker in court — but know this, Dennis Luker had two elders, a deacon and a deaconess to support the stalker in court. Also fortunately, the judge was unimpressed and issued the restraining order specifying that the stalker couldn’t even attend the same church services.

People seem to have no idea how unrestrained and unprincipled the Armstrongist leaders really are — it’s like it’s no big deal and kinda funny to hear these sorts of stories.

Of course there are nightmares in other of the sects, such as disgusting old men being pushed on teenage girls and teens thrown out of their homes because they don’t agree with the cult leader — the teens have absolutely nowhere to go and are essentially homeless at that point. Isn’t that fun? Great for a laugh?

      [Don’t you wanna be mean?
Don’t you wanna make mischief your daily routine?]

Incest occurs in the churches and the ministers do nothing about it.

How about the PCG minister who advised a member to leave his disabled child in a shopping mall because “someone will find it and take care of it” (and that way, you can give more money to the church).

These people are vile and ruthless.

And everybody seems to think they are so benign.

[Well, you can spend your life attending to the poor,
but when you’re evil, doing less is doing more.]

Yes, demand that members sell their property to give to the cult leaders, while the cult leaders live on properties the members could never afford — and aren’t about to give up any creature comforts.

      Hilarious.

    2. Zen poet Seng-Ts’an:
If you want to get the plain truth,
Be not concerned with right and wrong.
The CONFLICT between right and wrong
Is the sickness of the mind.

If God exists I think He would be an utilitarian.
Like, does 1+1=2 occasionaly get confused about 1+2=3.
Does “division by zero” declare a jihad against “multiplication by infinity”?
