Gavin Rumney Passes On….

BANNED by HWA reports that Gavin Rumney has passed away.

It has been reported that Gavin had cancer. In his final post at Ambassador Watch he wrote the following:

A Farewell to Arms

This is likely, highly likely, to be the final Ambassador Watch or Otagosh posting. Those who know me as more than a cantankerous blogger also know that I’ve been fighting, without great success, a serious health situation. In the time I have left there are clearly other priorities, and I commend Gary’s blog as a great place to keep “in the loop”.

I guess I want to say that there’s very little I regret. If I’ve horribly offended anyone unjustly, I apologize. There are a lot of good people in the COGs, battling on, as we all do, according to our best insights. The blogs will stay up, for what they’re worth, even if only curiosity value.

Special thanks to everyone who has engaged in creative conversation here.

Gavin.

Gavin, I thank you for all that you have done for so many, myself included.

Well done good and faithful servant!

  1. I’m sure that some of the ACOG ministers will be touching on this in today’s sermons and sermonettes. Some are probably also preparing their editorials and possibly articles on it. Others will probably pride themselves on ignoring Gavin’s contributions as if they were nothing.

They ought instead to be taking introspection. Real introspection, and not confirmation-bias introspection. Unfortunately, their doctrines and belief in themselves preclude this as even remotely possible.

    1. Yes, I know the feeling. Over at Ambassador Watch, Tom Mahon is certain that I am already dead:

“Personally, I didn’t have anything against Gavin. He just rushed to his keyboard to disparage people and things that he never understood, and he will reap the consequences, and his supporters will follow in his footsteps. I say that by the authorit of Almighty God!

“Where is the depressed the Dennis and the deranged Douglas, who used to attack me here? My angel, who always beholds the face of my father, who is in heaven, may have been sent to deal with their insanity!”

So there you have it. I’m dead. I’m as dead as Mike over on Ronald Weinland False Prophet: Ronald Weinland took it upon himself to curse Mike, back in, oh, I think it was 2008 and we all know what has happened since then — The Seven Thunders, The Great Tribulation, Death meted out upon those who opposed Swineland, Swineland and his leader Mrs. Swineland witnessing as the two prophets in Jerusalem, killed off, and then the Return of Christ. All of these things happened because, you know, R. Weinland said they would as God’s prophet — and his word has been certain… in a spiritual way. Now that R. Weinland is out of prison where he spent 3 years as the single witness, he is moving forward again.

Still, Mike only died in a spiritual way, leaving him to keep up the blog and occasionally go dancing with his wife in perfect health and great prosperity — leaving many of the rest of us wishing that we, too, were cursed.

Those of us cursed by Tom Mahon are prepared for disappointment, for he is not as great and powerful as Ronald Weinland, not even can be compared to David Pack, nor does he hold a match to even such as Robert Thiel. Still, his angel faces God down every day and that has to count for something! I will just have to live on with lowered expectations and the lab reports come back from Group Health as finding not much wrong with me, not that the examinations were cheap! Maybe that’s the punishment: Insurance doesn’t cover all the lab work. In order to fulfill the curse of Tom Mahon, then, Group Health has determined that their tests positively show that I need further testing. I guess, in the absence of anything concrete, I’ll just have to drop dead by an act of my own will to satisfy Tom.

Not to worry. Tom also has a death wish for Dennis as well, so I’m nothing special, even if I haven’t toppled over dead yet. It is my suspicion that due the curse, Dennis only has decades left to live.

Gee, that’s what they told me at Group Health.

It’s also amazing how much Gavin didn’t know! I guess he didn’t know a LOT! He only cast aspersions as to whether or not Jesus existed, proved the Apostle Paul was a fraud, that whole books of the Bible were forged and that British Israelism is ridiculous. It’s apparent that he didn’t know a whole lot of other things and certainly had the backing of experts, theologians and concrete evidence proving all the things he did NOT definitely know.

With his collective ignorance, it’s apparent that he managed to pull down an advanced degree, a PhD, I think, though we are pretty sure that Tom Mahon would go ballistic for sure if we rendered honor to whom honor and custom to whom custom is due and called him Dr. Gavin Rumney.

It’s amazing the level of ignorance these people with advanced degrees have, being that they know absolutely next to nothing at all, but still maintain skepticism about the ideas of those who have ridiculously unsupportable opinions.

      Sad, really.

Fortunately, Tom will never achieve the overweaning great ignorance of Gavin and can remain absolutely confident that everything he believes but has been disproved is concretely true and accurate and knows for certain that he has the power and protection of God to defeat his imaginary enemies.

      1. Neotherm deserves the psychologist of the year award for the way in which he attempted to awaken Tom to the ways in which Armstongism would effect Tom personally if somehow reaching ultimate conclusion were based on Armstrongish beliefs.

Many people never get the answers for which they are looking in life. And, I suppose that that’s a good thing because there is a certain repulsive arrogance that accompanies imagining that one has all of the ultimate answers. Tom most certainly believes this of himself. One is reminded of the “We’re not going to take it” scene of the opera “Tommy”.

        1. Among the many problems Armstrongists have is that they just don’t listen; they don’t accept correction; they don’t seek correction. Hubris causes them to think they have the truth when they don’t. After all that is said and done, it is their relentless pursuit to maximize their dopamine levels that drives them to maintain their superiority: They are druggie junkies looking to get their high by standing on the dead bodies they leave in their wake.

Furthermore, they are filled with hatred. If you want to make people angry lie to them and when they find out the truth they will be angry, but if you want to make people REALLY angry, tell them the truth. The anger they have toward those of us who tell them the truth builds into hatred and the hatred turns to bitterness. They become corrupt beyond redemption. It’s not really useful to try to work with them because their conscience has been seared with a hot iron: They have wallowed in their hatred too long; they have become comfortable in their nice warm cesspools and nose blind to their stench.

There’s no real solution to this. Dr. Phil couldn’t persuade them. In fact, they won’t accept the authority of anyone who disagrees with them and they only listen to what they want to hear: They are FOOLS.

Psalms says that God reveals His secrets to those who keep His covenant. Unfortunately, Armstrongists have no idea what that covenant is, but are dead certain they do. They will remain in their ignorance.

What possible reason would God have to try to redeem them when they are so set wallowing in their self-satisfaction? They can have no forgiveness because they don’t want it: They think they are perfectly fine the way they are.

The best we could hope for is that they would lose everything and be humbled, but, frankly, that sort of epiphany is reserved for those with sufficient humility to realize the lesson– and they just don’t have it.

        2. Neotherm’s reply was just perfect. And notice Tom’s reply, ‘For the question God poses through the Chosen Vessel is this…’

So Tom see’s himself as a chosen vessel of God. Why does this not surprise me? Being involved with armstrongism all those years and meeting mental nuts on a weekly bases you would have thought I should have anticipated this. Anyway, I hope Tom starts his ‘true church’ soon enough so that the next generation of herbal basher’s can have their fill of fun & laughter mocking these narcissistic fools!

      2. I assumed Tommy boy was talking about his (white hats) ‘angel’ and his god, then it hit me. I believe he is talking about (god=Satan=black hats) and his personally appointed angel (demon).

You can’t be to sure about these things. Tom writes a lot of stupid shit.

  2. BlackOps said:”Furthermore, they are filled with hatred. If you want to make people angry lie to them and when they find out the truth they will be angry, but if you want to make people REALLY angry, tell them the truth.”

This is true in the secular world as well, as evidenced by this election. It’s been said that the greatest threat to a narcissist or sociopath, is the intelligent empath.
